Hanaa Tegally

Junior Legal Executive

Hanaa Tegally is a lawyer at BLC Chambers and holds a “Licence en Droit” and a “Maîtrise en Droit des Affaires” from the Université de La Sorbonne. She also has a Gradute Diploma in Law from City University London.

Prior to joining BLC, Hanaa undertook an internship at the Paris office of Clyde & Co LLP, an international law firm, where she worked in the business law team. She assisted in various transactions such as where Clyde was acted in a major international arbitration at the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in connection with a breach of a cross-border joint-venture agreement in the United Arab Emirates for the purpose of carrying out a construction project. She has been also entrusted to assist with formalities with different French authorities such as the national data protection authority, for the incorporation of a civil aircraft with the authority of civil aviation and for a procedure of exequatur with the tribunal.

While being in Paris, Hanaa attended several conferences on the global issues (namely sustainable development, renewable energy) linked to climate change at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) where she strengthen her knowledge in these areas. Since joining BLC in 2015, Hanaa regularly assists and advises in the areas of banking and financing transactions. She has been involved in assisting in several transactions, acting for both lenders and borrowers. She assisted in the drafting of legal opinion, reviewing foreign law documents, security documentation and carrying out legal due diligence. She has drafted legal advice on various matters in business law in general, including civil law issues. As one of her assignments, she has recently advised a French company regarding an investment in Mauritius in connection with clinical research for a value of EUR 115,000. She has also started to assist with a solar photovoltaic farm project.

  • Advised in respect of the capital protected notes issued by a bank.
  • Advised an audit company regarding legal issues in relation to factoring services offered by a bank, particularly the rights of the latter in the transfer of ownership of the trade receivables involved.
  • Assited in a transaction where the firm was acting for foreign banks in connection with the re-financing of a loan.
  • Advised on the indirect disposal of shares in a bank, in particular whether the acquisition by a public company of an aggregate amount of capital of a Kenyan holding company would require prior approval of the Central Bank.
  • Advised a foreign company on the regulatory aspects for conducting clinical research in Mauritius.
