Shane Mungur
Legal ExecutiveShane Mungur joined BLC Chambers as a lawyer in March 2014, and specialises in financial law. He is regularly involved in advising international lenders on the structure of their security packages and in drafting security documents in connection with cross border financing. Shane has frequently been involved in hotel-based financing including having been part of the transaction team advising a leading Mauritian bank on a debt restructuring exercise of a hotel and advising on the financing of an acquisition in the hospitality industry. Moreover, he has advised a leading Mauritian bank on the transaction documents under a structured finance facility tailored to the operations of a borrower with activities in the telecommunications industry in various African countries.
Prior to joining the firm, Shane carried out an internship at the London offices of Clifford Chance LLP. He sat primarily in the firm’s debt capital market practice and was involved in reviewing documentation for the establishment and update of various emerging market eurobond medium term note programmes.
Shane read law at the University of Manchester and obtained a postgraduate diploma in legal practice from the College of Law (UK). Shane also holds a diploma in French law from Université Jean Moulin – Lyon III and is an alumnus of King’s College London, having read for a Masters in Laws in International Financial Law.

- Banking
- Advised a leading Mauritian bank on the transaction documents in respect of financing to a Mauritian holding company with activities in the telecommunications industry in various African countries.
- Advised an African telecommunications operator on the Mauritian law aspects of a cross-border asset financing including assistance in putting in place the Mauritian security package.
- Advised a borrower on the financing aspect of a cross-border acquisition, including putting into place a bridge facility and a leveraged term facility.
- Assisted on the reorganisation of a Mauritian holding company forming part of a South African group of companies for the introduction of a shareholder and on the debt funding to the group for the acquisition of a floating dock and the construction of a docking quay in Durban harbour.
- Advised an international bank on the Mauritian security in respect of a rescheduling of existing indebtedness.
- Advised an international bank on the Mauritian regulatory aspects of entering into supply chain financing arrangements with Mauritian entities.
- Advised a local bank in respect of the financing of an acquisition in the hospitality industry in Mauritus.
- Advised a local bank on the transaction documents as part of a debt restructuring exercise.
- Advised a European bank on the effect of a cross-border merger on the surviving entity’s assets and obligations under Mauritian law.
- Advised an international bank on the listing of an exchange traded fund.
